Overview

RTI International seeks a prospect for the Finance and Administration Internship within the International Development Group for Mali Sene Yiriwa Sud Project in Bamako. The USAID-funded Agricultural Production Activity (APA)-Sikasso will sustainably intensify productivity of key value chains leading to improved incomes, consumption of nutritious foods, and resilience of farming households. To achieve this, the project will: 1) strengthen farmer organizations (FOs) to deliver inclusive, diversified EAS and nutrition advisory services; 2) increase and sustain adoption of climate-smart agriculture (CSA) technologies and practices; and 3) improve farmer decision making through digital, field-based solutions.

Responsibilities

The position is responsible for ensuring appropriate systems and procedures (vendor payments and other related expenditures) are followed to properly disburse, account, budget and report project funds which are cost effective, timely, have proper internal controls and comply with the terms of the project agreement.



Provide substantive support to RTI's finance and accounting functions.
Assist the Senior Accountant and Finance and Administrative Assistant to review expenses and financial transactions to ensure they comply with the procedures and terms of the agreement between RTI and USAID.
Travel to the field, if necessary, to support the technical team in the organization of training workshops.
Assure proper filing of physical financial documentation
Assist the Finance and Administrative Assistant to prepare payment vouchers for Mobile Money and Banks (ex., to support workshop participants, Staff , suppliers, etc.);
Support the Accounting Team during the absence of the Senior Accountant and/or Finance and Administrative Assistant
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Additional Information

This in-person internship is supported by a monthly stipend and will take place from April 2024 through June 2024. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week. This internship will have a specific daily start and end time.


Qualifications

Must be a local resident of Bamako, Mali
Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field or recently graduate (Degree received no earlier than June 2023)
A personal mobile phone is required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Basic understanding of financial management principles
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications

Be able to travel occasionally across the project target counties
It is expected that the team members must be able to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment – with one team – one project concept.
The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, entrepreneurial, resourceful, flexible, independent, and energetic with excellent communications skills, cultural sensitivity and has demonstrated experience supporting technical assistance projects.
Capable to communicate in a local language (preferably Bambara), French; knowledge of English (written and oral) considered an asset.
Ability to work well in a team setting.
